Today, June 21st 2014, the Sun entered the watery sign of Cancer. In fact today marks the Summer Solstice, so Cancer has come right along with the official start of summer. To start off this season of Cancer I want to talk a bit about the sign and the personality of a Cancer Sun.  

Cancer is the fourth sign in the zodiac. It is the first water sign which means that it is the first sign where we encounter and experience the full range of emotions and feelings. It is the first sign that starts to feel the separation from source and all creation and therefore craves security. Cancers are very emotional and like the phases of the moon, their ruling planet , their moods are always changing.  Cancers can constantly want sympathy for their feelings which are abundant and expect everyone to not hurt them. When people end up hurting a Cancer's feelings though, the Cancer may become extra vulnerable, touchy and may develop a protective shell like a crab. Cancer's sensitivity is a gift, but it is important for them not to wallow in their pain and feelings. It is important for them to nurture and care for others. Cancer rules mothers and because of this all Cancer's usually like to 'mother' people. Their strong sensitivity helps them to understand other people's emotional pain. It is a wonderful talent of theirs to nurture, sympathize and empower others as long as they don't become everybody's emotional crutch. Since the Sun shows us how we express our identity, Sun in Cancer's may only get a sense of identity from having emotional connections with others. As great as this can be at times, it is important for them to try to gain their identity from their individuality as well. Also, Cancers are usually quite sentimental and home and family are very important to them. They can be pretty domestic and their home may in a manner of speaking be like a protective shell to them. Home can be where they gain security and comfort. 

Overall Cancer is a wonderful, kind, nurturing and sensitive sign. They are always helping out all the other signs. So let's all remember during this month of Cancer to be sweet and kind to others , and to thank all the Cancers in our lives who are always there with a sympathetic ear, willing to help us out in any moment of need.
