New Moon in Pisces During a Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

We're a week into a 3 week Mercury Retrograde in Pisces and lo and behold we have a New Moon in Pisces today! A fresh start in the midst of reflecting.

Pisces is a sign that is all about going with the flow. About tuning into your spirit, all that is, the universe and your intuition. It's about fantasy, ideals and imagination. It's about the infinite and infinite possibility. It's definitely a time to dream of what you would like in your life. Don't limit yourself. The possibilities are endless. Yet, it's a time where you should't try to control too much. See where life takes you. See how it unfolds. With the retrograde your mind may seem out to lunch, and while you may have to work extra hard to maintain your daily responsibilities, the intuitive flow state you find yourself in, the emotional connection to everything and the sense of tripping out, could be really interesting. What you need could be found within those spaces. There is already a sense of 'newness' within the retrograde. Although still there may be important things to think about. Take a look at territory you're revisiting. What important insights and discussions come up. Usually Mercury Retrograde happens when a big important decision needs to get made or a big life change is about to happen. Of course it can bring with it the annoyance of technology or appliances going on the fritz. Take your time doing things as it's easy to overlook things. Also, people from the past could come up. A lot of the time this doesn't mean anything, so just be discerning.

Mars in Capricorn is exactly sextile the New Moon, which is really nice because it brings some grounding energy to the rest of it. There's a lot of spacey, dreamy, in another dimension sort of energy, but yet there's quite an emphasis on Capricorn, giving us an anchor. Grounding down our dreams in reality. Mars in Capricorn in general reminds us that just because it's a retrograde we can't stop making our way up the mountain so to speak. Keep moving towards your goals as you discover what the retrograde has to show you. Mars in sextile to the New Moon just emphasizes this. There's a lot of energy. There's propulsion forward. It's a balance between flow and not just sitting still. With this energy, don't decide to just sleep your life away for three weeks, keep going! Make shit happen, just in an in tune, non forceful manner.

The day before the New Moon, the Sun was trine Uranus in Taurus, which still impacts the New Moon. There's lots of change and stimulation about. The unexpected. You certainly can't stay stuck in a rut. Mars was making this aspect earlier this week as well, so there's lots of this energy about. Elements of surprise, the unexpected. Changes. Urges to keep changing. An exciting, stimulating quality. It's a retrograde, but the energy certainly isn't dull.

Then the Sun a couple days after the New Moon will move into a trine with the North Node in Cancer. This energy impacts the New Moon too. We're moving into big destiny points. We're being nudged in the right direction. All of that being water energy, we're being nudged in a direction that we keep being nudged in, that of following our hearts and emotions. Let them be your guide. Like I said the mental energy is out to lunch at the moment, which is probably good because so often that energy doesn't help us out. So tap into those darn feelings! Open up your heart. Heart expansion, heart opening and heart awakening have been the biggest themes since the North Node entered Cancer. This is another big moment along that path.

Last aspect I want to talk about today is not one to the New Moon itself, but happening at the same time. That is, Venus in Aries square Jupiter in Capricorn. There can be some growing pains with relationships or even projects or money maybe. They are the most beneficial and lucky planets though, so this isn't too tense of an aspect. Venus in Aries wants new beginnings in relationships. It wants to begin new projects. Jupiter in Capricorn is about growth, but not in a crazy, fast impulsive way. It's more slow and methodical. Perhaps it's about realizing that things can move forward and things can grow, but be smart in the process. The worst thing that people usually do with Venus square Jupiter is over indulge or overspend, so just be careful of that.

It's an interesting time because there's actually a lot of new energy and new things pushing forward, just during a retrograde where we are also forced to reflect on some things as well. We're moving forward now and preparing to move forward more in the near future. It's a time to move forward, but in a go with the flow type state though too.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio: A Spooky Retrograde

Just in time for Halloween, Mercury descends into the underworld for a retrograde in Scorpio that will last till November 20th.

I always have to start a post about Mercury Retrograde clearing up what it actually is. Mercury Retrograde happens when Mercury is closer to us in it's orbit. This loss of perspective makes it look like it is moving backwards. Astrology is from our perspective, so when looking at a chart, Mercury moves backwards in degrees. Both these facts are important to remember. Mercury's closeness to us highlights the areas it rules: communication and the mind. Both of these can get overloaded however cause the energy is too high and that's where a lot of the mishaps, mix ups and miscommunications can come from during this time. With the backwards movement in the chart however it's time to review some things before moving forward. To look within. This is also why the past can come up a lot during a retrograde. Communications from people with the past are common. For the most part I wouldn't put too much stock in those.

Typical things you always got to watch out for is technology or any sort of electrical device or appliance, going on the fritz. Try your best to communicate really well because miscommunications, especially the electronic variety, can be common. If people return from the past in most cases don't get sucked into it. Careful of signing important contracts. Put it off if you can, but you can if you have to, just remember to take a lot of time with it. Also, steer clear from major decisions. It's a time to review things. Usually this time predates big decisions, but it's not time to make them now. Starting or ending jobs is not advised and same with relationships. I've seen those types of decisions change the second a retrograde is over more times than I can count. There's no perspective to make proper decisions now.

This retrograde is happening in Scorpio, so let's talk about how this flavors the retrograde. Scorpio rules the underworld, so we're going way deep with this one. There'll definitely be an intensity, especially an emotional one during this time. It's time to be detectives. To unearth information or secrets that previously eluded us. Perhaps some of this information will help people make decisions when the retrograde is over. Other people just need to unearth things they've buried in themselves for better self-understanding. In particular it's a good time to look at your shadow side. It's also a time to explore your deepest emotions. Primal desires. What you feel, but is hiding in the secret innermost reaches of your soul.

Hope this retrograde passes easily for you. It may have started on Halloween, but these three weeks could continue feeling like Halloween. Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio is a bit spooky we could say.

Mercury Retrograde in Leo and Cancer

July is just getting more interesting! We've had the first of the Eclipses and now we're heading into a Mercury Retrograde. It starts today, July 7th and ends July 31st. The Retrograde will start at 4 degrees Leo and end at 23 degrees Cancer. With the Retrograde happening in two signs we will be dealing with some different energies. As we're moving in major new directions in our lives with the Eclipses, there are some things we need to process and reflect on.

To start off it's a good idea to explain what is actually happening during a Mercury Retrograde. Mercury Retrogrades have been an astrological event that has gained a lot of popular hype, yet not too many people actually know what's going on. Mercury Retrogrades happen roughly three times a year. What everyone seems to know about Mercury Retrograde is that it looks like Mercury is moving backwards. The thing is, it's really not. It's actually closer to the earth than it is the rest of the time. We lose perspective therefore and it appears to be moving backwards. Since everything we look at astrologically is from the earth's perspective, when looking at astrology charts for the period of the retrograde, Mercury moves backwards in degrees within the zodiac, since that's what it appears to be doing. I feel like it's important to know all that to understand Mercury Retrograde.

The fact that Mercury is closer to the earth during this time is especially important to remember. It's energy is stronger during this time. Mercury rules communication and the mind. These are super heightened during a retrograde. It's so close though that sometimes we could become overloaded and also lose perspective. This is why communication can go awry and technology or appliances of any sort can crap out or go on the fritz. There is so much mental stimulation and while there may be some interesting thoughts and insights that crop up, all may not be clear till it turns direct again and we get our usual perspective back. Sometimes it's best to retreat a bit during this time. Some people may want to because the energy may be so intense that they may 'shut down' a bit. Regardless, it's a good idea to have patience at this time and to really take your time communicating. If there are miscommunications do your best to try and patch them up. It's also interesting to see what's going through your mind and what sort of insights you get. Some of these things may help you get more clear, but ultimate clarity is not something you may find at this time. Also, usually it's best for this reason to put off major decisions if you can until the retrograde is over. Some people get the idea that life just stops during Mercury Retrograde and that they can't move forward at all. This isn't true. Do what you need to do and follow what you think you should be doing, just take a lot more time with it. Really make sure you're doing the right thing. If there's something you really don't need to make a decision on this month though, perhaps wait. Decisions and things started during a Mercury Retrograde tend to end up differently than they started.

The fact that Mercury appears to be moving backwards does affect us as well though. Mercury Retrograde is known to bring up the past. Sometimes there are things from the past we need to think about or deal with. Things we need to reflect on. Finish something perhaps. Sometimes it just gets nostalgic, especially with this one when it re-enters Cancer around the 19th till the end of the month. People from the past crop up a lot during Mercury Retrograde. Very rarely does that mean you should go 'back' into any relationship if that happens. Sometimes someone may return and you need to deal with, heal or face something. About half the time there is no good reason, people from the past just kind of crop up or may think of you no matter how random it seems. Besides all this it's good to really reflect and to really process where you're going next in your life. This is a particularly big deal right now because with these Eclipses lots is probably changing and happening in your life. That's also why it's not like things are 'stopped' right now. It's good to remember to take time to process where you've been, what you're moving away from, what has ended and where you are currently going. It's a major time and there's a lot to process. Giving yourself adequate time to retreat sometimes during this period is important and can be helpful.

Leo
We're starting off the retrograde in the sign of Leo, where it will be till the 19th. This part of the retrograde can bring up things you learned last summer or even around the end of January. With Eclipses during those times that dealt with Leo energy. We also actually had a Mercury Retrograde during last summer in Leo as well. It's like as we're experiencing this new Eclipse season and new lessons, we're being reminded of what we've learned before, so we can integrate it all. This part of the retrograde can really help us get in touch with our authentic truth. Helping us question whether we are living a life in alignment with who we really are and our particular interests and talents. Helping us get in touch with expressing ourselves authentically as well. It's important for us all to take stock of this, so that we can live fulfilling lives and as our lives change course during this intense time that we make sure our new course is in alignment with who we really are. That wherever we are going next we show up fully and in our authenticity. Remember that you are the queen or king of your own kingdom. People may really want attention and for their truth to be heard during this time. Sometimes people could get frustrated. Any miscommunications during this time could possibly come from frustrations around feeling like you can't fully express yourself. Be patient with yourself and others. Also, honor your own truth and other's truths as well.

Cancer
From the 19th to the 31st, Mercury will be retrograde in Cancer. Just when it looks like we're done exploring feelings and getting more in touch with our emotions, Mercury brings them majorly to your attention. This period of time could get quite emotional. There may be lots of feelings to process especially from the past. There may be some feelings staring you in the face that you haven't had time to deal with yet, but you need to in order to move forward. This is the part of the retrograde where the past may come up more intensely and this is the time that could get quite nostalgic as well. Could be a time where people really want to spend time with their families as well. This could also be more of a time where the overload factor could kick in and therefore there may need to be times where you can retreat. Self-care will be important. Miscommunications at this time could be more likely to be about emotional things or because of something that is emotionally charged. Try to be clear when expressing your emotions and try to be open to listening to others.

Lots of people find Mercury Retrograde annoying, but retrogrades serve a purpose. They just involve more patience, extra caution since everything can be so abuzz and adequate time to reflect and process. It should be helpful to have this time during Eclipse season as our lives are majorly changing course. It's different for everyone though and it's more intense for some than for others. If you're familiar with your chart, see where 23 degrees Cancer to 4 degrees of Leo falls in your chart or if you have any planets between there. I am always available for transit readings though, to see how this retrograde and these Eclipses are affecting you.

Mercury Retrograde and New Moon in Pisces: Let Go of Mentally Trying to Understand and Surrender to the Flow

Is everybody ready? We are entering into a MAJOR Pisces zone. This is because we have a Mercury Retrograde in Pisces starting right now (March 5th 2019) that will last till March 28th and a New Moon in Pisces on March 6th 2019 (8:03 am PST). This next month prepare to leave typical reality behind and enter into a crazy high energy Piscean zone. It's time to go about things in a totally different way because what you're used to won't work during this time. At it's lowest this time could be very confusing or even chaotic. Yet, if you navigate this energy well, which I'm here to help explain to you (yay astrology!) this time can be really cool and profound. I have such a strong feeling that this is a time where it's so important to know what's up with the astrology because it can be a game changer.

Before I even get into the specifics I want to talk about the overall way to navigate this energy because that's the most important thing at this time.

The thing that you need to forget about this month is mental 'understanding'.

The thing you need to totally tune in with this month is 'the flow'.

Got that? Ok let me explain.

Mercury has to do with the mind, thinking, and attempting to understand situations. Mercury however is in Pisces and there's this New Moon in Pisces conjunct Neptune. Pisces isn't about thinking or understanding. It's about connection to all that is. It's about flow. It's about surrender. When there is a situation in our life what we understand about it is always married to what we also don't understand about it. We come up with some answers though through thinking and then perhaps feel good about it or maybe we just get more confused or frustrated. All of this comes about through thinking. Right now though the typical powers of thinking will not work for us. All situations we must not attempt to understand. Perhaps we will realize that some things we rationalized in the past we truly didn't understand at all. We filled in the blanks with rationalization and it may not have been the complete truth of the situation at all. At this time when events happen or when you connect with people, don't try to rationalize or understand. Go with things without needing to know why. Follow what you feel about them and also get deeply in touch with your intuition. If an opportunity comes up and you want to do it, do it without attempting to understand or fit it into the rest of your life. If you feel repulsed by something and don't want to do it, then don't. If something doesn't work out just let it be. It simply isn't working out. Don't obsess or attempt to understand it. It's the same with people who you connect with or who may come into your life. With Mercury Retrograde the past can come up. Don't try to understand or make sense of that either. Just let it be what it was and appreciate it or not. It's time to just accept things. To just be. To let things flow. In this state of flow and surrender, acceptance and complete going with how you feel about things is where the magic happens. Through getting out of your 'head' you'll start to see what is true and how much your can't understand and that's completely ok. A new way of being will be born that is needed in this strange space this next month, yet it can impact how you live your life from here on out. It can be so powerful. You may break free from illusions as you realize that your mind brought those about when you thought you understood a situation, but all you really did was assume.

Ok, so now let's talk a bit about Mercury Retrograde specifically. When Mercury is Retrograde it is closer to the earth and appears to be moving backwards. It isn't though. It just looks like it. It's energy is actually super heightened and it's so close we can either lose perspective or even get overwhelmed with the energy. However since astrology is always from the earth's perspective since we are inhabitants of earth there is still a 'backwards moving' quality. When looking at an astrology chart Mercury moves backwards in degrees during a retrograde. This is why we can become reflective at these times, re-do things, spend some more time working on something before moving on and why the past comes up. Getting back to the fact that Mercury is closer to the earth than usual means that retrogrades can be a 'buzzy' time filled with connections and communications. Also just lots of information. Sometimes it can get to be so much that there is a shut down and it can become a quiet and withdrawn time. If that happens it may be needed and beneficial, so it's totally good to go with that. This time with it being in Pisces though our minds are not extra activated in the usual way. We may be extra intuitive. Things we are thinking could feel like 'downloads' from the cosmos. If we got too into our heads at this time we could end up in a very confused and chaotic state, so don't go there!

It's also important to note with all this energy that substances at this time could lead to a rather dark rabbit hole. The energy is such that you could seriously feel high sometimes (or who knows maybe all the time!) without taking anything!

Mercury Retrograde is known for technology and appliances going on the fritz and I think it's cause it's so close that the energy just gets too intense, things can crap out. I guess it's good to take note of, but perhaps can't be helped.

Mercury Retrograde can also be known for miscommunications or a time to be careful about signing things or traveling. It doesn't have to be that way at all. These are just results of higher 'buzzy' energy. It you are careful and take your time attending to details and are not impulsive you can avoid difficulties.

Alright now let's tie in the New Moon in Pisces energy! As with all New Moon's it's a new beginning point. With it being in Pisces though conjunct Neptune, which is the planet that rules Pisces, it's a different type of new beginning. One that comes with surrendering to the flow. Being ok with the fact that all may not be clear and you may not know what will happen next. One that can bring such strong spiritual connection and connection to the universe. It's time to trust in the cosmic forces as we move forward. The New Moon and Neptune are also conjunct the asteroid Vesta in Pisces. Vesta has to do with our 'inner flame'.

Guys this is such a crazy powerful time! We are entering a time if you're open to it to align with your inner flame and spark. The cosmos. The cosmic forces. The flow of life itself. Forget about the small human acts of rationalizing and trying to mentally understand. Of course thinking is an important part of life as a human on earth and it's not like we're going to stop thinking completely or anything. At this time though, what's more important is surrender to the great, vast, beautiful flow of life without needing to control, understand or see where it's going. Reality and dreams may be hard to differentiate between now. So what? We must flow or become chaotic or confused right now. Always trust your intuition and your feelings during this time. Stop trying to mentally understand everything. This time can be so epically magical and interesting if you go with it.

🚤Wishing you all smooth sailing in this new navigation of life this month. May it lead you to where you are meant to be and open you up to radical new ways of being and dealing with situations and people in your life. I'm honestly so excited and fascinated to navigate the seas of the month ahead with this totally different way of operating and I hope you are too! 🚤

Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius ( And a Bit in Scorpio!): What does your future look like?

On November 16th (2018) Mercury turned retrograde right after Venus turned direct. We've had pretty constant retrogrades since summer. A Mars retrograde, then a Mercury retrograde while Mars was still retrograde, and then most recently a Venus Retrograde. All the personal planets! (all the planets go retrograde, but these three affect us the most personally, so these are the ones I'm talking about). Now we are having the final retrograde of the year where we get to reflect on everything we've learned and integrate it all.

All of these retrogrades were frustrating to some degree I know, but the universe is really trying to get us all majorly on track this year. It's like our life path is a bowling lane, and the universe put the guards up so that we can't veer off course. Ultimately these are really free will choices though, but it's more supported and better for our lives and happiness to go with the energy and do the work.

If you got more on track during the recent retrogrades hopefully you are more aware of your authentic self, your deep desires, the right path and life that aligns with your authentic self, what you would like in romantic relationships, and hopefully you released situations that were pulling you off path. Now after all of that we are ready to move forward, but we need to use this Mercury retrograde to integrate it all and see how this all fits together.

Mercury will mostly be retrograde in Sagittarius. Sagittarius's symbol is the archer and it is the sign that is focused on the future. Now that we have hopefully gotten more on track, we can take this time to reflect and see how everything we've learned fits into our futures. It's an important final step. This retrograde may not seem quite so withdrawn as the other ones because while Mercury appears to be moving backwards, Sagittarius is forward focused. We should remember however, that reflection and time spent taking it easy is a good idea at this time.

Mercury will actually move back into Scorpio for a few days at the end of it's retrograde. After our days focused on the future and thinking about how it all fits together, we will have a few days to finally check in and double check that we are truly following our desires and the right path. These few days might feel more withdrawn and the reflection energy may be deeper.

Typical Mercury Retrograde Things to Watch Out For:

-Communication difficulties/miscommunication

-Technology acting up

-Be extra cautious about travel plans

-Careful of starting new things, be cautious and discerning about them

-People from the past may crop up

-You may feel like spending more time alone (I know it's the holiday season, but you'll be better off if you make sure to sneak in some alone time too)

-It's a good time to re-do, re-think etc.

It may seem kind of annoying that we are having another retrograde. This is like the final puzzle piece though! It's helpful and necessary. So start thinking about what you would like your future to look like. Start putting together everything you've learned about yourself. It truly is a powerful time. I know this energy can get a bit restless (especially with Jupiter in it's home sign, which is the ruler of most of Mercury retrograde). It's like we want to run towards the future with open arms, but we gotta chill for a minute and figure it all out.

Mercury Retrograde in Leo: Uncovering Our True Selves

Get ready! Tonight Mercury is going Retrograde! It will be Retrograde just a little over three weeks. This Mercury Retrograde is happening at such an interesting and crazy time astrologically. It's coinciding with a Mars Retrograde and with Eclipse season. It's a time of fated events, beginnings and endings and plenty of review and reflection first.

With both Mars and Mercury Retrograde, this is a time to slow down and turn within to examine your life. This can be a frustrating time, as perhaps not much seems to be moving forward. Trust me though, once this summer is over our lives will most likely be quite different. First we need to review and examine. If you don't take good time for yourself you could get forced to slow down. A personal observation I've made is that people who don't take time for themselves or are bogged down by responsibilities without an option to stop during a retrograde, get sick. The universe seems like it will make you slow down and spend some time with yourself to reflect whether it's your choice or not! No matter what your duties are, whatever free time you have really try to opt for spending time with yourself. With these two Retrogrades going on it's time to push the pause button a bit and process. We need to process what has been going on recently in our lives. Some may need to process things from the past if there are residual issues and feelings that need to be dealt with. Once we've done our processing, then we can use this time to figure out where we would like to go from here.

Typical Mercury Retrograde Issues to Look Out For

1. Communication. It can get wonky. Especially with today's reliance on electronic communication. Take your time when communicating. Double check things and communicate clearly and well to avoid misunderstandings.

2. Be careful with all electronics, devices etc. Things like that can go on the fritz.

3. This can be a time where mind is very active. If you become overwhelmed by your thoughts take the time to write out your thoughts or something.

4. The personal planets going retrograde have a tendency to bring up the past. People from the past could show up. This could be a good thing, someone you need to reconnect with or that needs to bring something to your attention about who you used to be. Sometimes the people that show up though are mostly just random. It's a good idea to be discerning if you're getting messages from someone from the past. Think about their intentions and if it would even be beneficial to connect to them.

5. Retrogrades are not times to start completely new things. Of course life does not stop during a retrograde and I'm not telling you to hide out under your covers. That being said I would not recommend starting a completely new project, job or relationship at this time. This is a great time instead to figure out what your next step should be. Also, endings can be tricky at this time. A Lunar Eclipse is happening this weekend which can bring bring changes or endings about. Yet Retrogrades are usually not times to make big decisions. I feel like everyone will just have to feel this one out individually. Some may feel very pushed to make changes right now, others may start to get the ball rolling, but will make a full and final decision when the Retrogrades are over.

Mercury in Leo
Now let's talk about the fact that this Mercury Retrograde is happening in the sign of Leo! What's so crazy is that the Eclipses are revolving around the signs of Leo and Aquarius and Mars is Retrograde in Aquarius while Mercury will be Retrograde in Leo! How crazy is that? We are totally being urged to figure out the lessons of these signs. The North Node is in Leo, so during this time this is the energy we are supposed to be moving into. The energy of authenticity, shining our inner light, following our hearts and becoming immersed in our personal power of creation. Therefore during Mercury Retrograde in Leo we are really reflecting deeply within ourselves to get more in touch with our personal essence. To listen to our hearts. This can be a great time to play around with your creativity as well. Yes, the energy can be slow and frustrating. I feel like there is kind of an exciting aspect to this Mercury Retrograde though. There's a great opportunity to bask in the essence of who we are as we take a step inwards. As long as we don't pressure ourselves to get out there and make it happen this moment, there's opportunity for fun, play and creativity. Aries is the baby in zodiac, but Leo is the child. This is an important time to get in touch with your inner child. This could be difficult for some who have childhood trauma they need to heal. It can also be quite fun though. When people are children they're still at a malleable age where they haven't been too swayed by others ( I guess it really depends on the situation) . In moments of play they are drawn to certain things. There's an opportunity now to reflect on that . As we reflect on this we may realize elements of our authentic selves that we have since repressed over the years. For some, reflecting and looking back may bring  profound realizations. For others, revisiting certain things from your childhood could be important as silly as that may seem! Perhaps you should engage in activities you once liked or watch your favorite childhood movie. You could end up learning something valuable about yourself and what you were initially drawn to.

~What we are really doing at this time is uncovering aspects of our authentic selves. Everyone is on a different level of this journey. Some people are already really far along, but could go deeper or share more of themselves. Others are just starting out. Our culture is obsessed with 'becoming' but this process we're going through isn't about 'becoming' anything. We already are who we truly are. We need to become archeologists within our own souls, personalities and lives to uncover  our inner truth because it's already there. It's an interesting time, but I'm so excited to see the amazing things that happen when life starts moving forwards again.~

Mercury Retrograde in Aries

It's Aries season, the season of new beginnings where the desire to charge forward is strong. A Mercury Retrograde started on March 22nd though and Mercury will be retrograde for three weeks. It's time to hold your horses and turn within right now.

Typical Retrograde Things to Keep in Mind

1. Miscommunication
This is extra highlighted with Mercury in Aries, which is an impulsive communication placement to begin with. Watch what you say! Really think about what you're going to say before you say it because it could very easily be taken the wrong way this retrograde.

2. Technology Issues
Any technology, gadgets or forms of transportation could get a little wonky at this time. Patience is key. Some things go wrong because you put off fixing it beforehand.

3. Travel
It's totally ok to travel during Mercury Retrograde. I've done it myself and it went smoothly. It's just important to be careful with your travel plans and make sure you double check everything and use caution.

4. Don't Start Any New Ventures or Sign Contracts
Sometimes life happens regardless of Mercury Retrograde and you could find yourself having to sign something. Just really take your time to read everything if that's true. New things started are usually subject to change during this time.

5. Don't Make Huge Purchases
You could regret it later and wonder why on earth you thought it was a good idea to spend so much money on whatever it is you happened to buy.

5.The Past Resurfacing
The past could come up. Sometimes you need to deal with or reflect on something form the past. Other times people from the past pop up, but it doesn't necessarily mean much. Use discernment.  For relationships in particular this can be an interesting time. It isn't totally advisable to start something new or end a relationship during this time. Things aren't clear right now and the nature of things could very easily change when the retrograde is over.

What is this Retrograde Good For?
This is a time to put on the brakes a bit. Reflect. Rethink. Redo. Basically anything with Re in front of it. With Mercury in Aries our minds may be full of exciting new ideas. This needs to be a time of reviewing and planning what we would like next in our lives. Aries is ruled by Mars, so this retrograde is ruled by Mars in Capricorn. Mars in Capricorn reminds us to build brick by brick. This is a time for planning, not running head first into something. Stay practical.

Aries also has to do with independence and individuality. It is the first sign of the zodiac. The statement Aries makes is simply, 'I Am. ' It's a good idea to really tune into yourself and ask yourself 'who am I?' Mercury will trine the North Node in Leo pretty early on too, which furthers this energy. North Node in Leo has been about getting in touch with our authenticity. This can be a great time to really turn inwards and think about your identity and what is authentically you. Spend some quality time with yourself.

Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius: An Energized Retrograde Centered Around the Truth and Creating Our Futures

It's Mercury retrograde time again! Mercury started a retrograde cycle on December 2nd 2017 and will be retrograde till December 22nd. I'm sure you can feel it already, but this isn't your typical Mercury Retrograde. This one is pretty energized.

~Typical Mercury Retrograde Issues to Watch Out~
I can't have a Mercury retrograde post without making sure I tell you about some more typical Mercury retrograde things to watch out for. You should have patience with technology as you could experience some problems or glitches, you should be careful of miscommunications,  you should be careful of signing contracts and if you are traveling really make sure you double check everything etc. Mercury Retrogrades are also not a good time to start something totally new. Ending something isn't a good idea either if you can help it. The thing about starting something or ending something is that the nature of those circumstances can change when Mercury Retrograde is over, so it's best to wait on big decisions.

~The Past~
Something Mercury retrogrades can bring up is the past. Whatever comes up is always for a reason, but the levels of of how important these things are can vary greatly. Sometimes we need to revisit something during this time that never got resolved. Sometimes something or someone that was in your life and kind of disappeared and wasn't really supposed to in the long run, comes back for a redo. On a more personal level, friends, or lovers who just never got over you or  never got what they wanted from you can re-surface and a lot of the time that doesn't necessarily mean anything more than that.

~Moving Forward~
Something that I feel like is misunderstood about Mercury retrograde is that you can move forward. Especially during this particular retrograde, which is much more energized. The thing is, don't do something completely new. If you redo something or re-vamp something, that's awesome. You can also use some of the stuff from the past positively in order to move forward.

~A Word About Retreating~
Mercury retrogrades usually have to do with taking a step back and retreating. While I think that you should make sure you take important reflective moments for yourself, this Mercury retrograde is just too energized for that to be all you focus on at this time. I think taking time to retreat, experience solitude and meditating are always important. I just think this retrograde isn't the time to totally disconnect form the world and to not do anything. Balance is really key here this time.

~Mercury is Retrograde in the Sign of Sagittarius~
Mercury is going retrograde through the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a fire sign and is related to outward moving, yang energy. That's part of the reason why this retrograde is more energized. The symbol we associate with Sagittarius is that of the archer. Sagittarius is concerned with the future and helps us to point our 'arrows' in the right direction. During this retrograde we are concerned with our futures and everything we do, are revisiting, or bringing back from the past is all in order to really figure out where our  futures are going when Mercury turns direct.

Sagittarius is also concerned with the truth and finding meaning. With Mercury retrograde in this sign we are really questioning the truth. What does it all mean? What is the truth of our lives? Our inner truth ( since retrogrades turn us inwards)? We are trying to discover these truths so we know what direction our futures should go in. This may mean that we discover some truths we didn't know previously. Sometimes this can be hard. It's important to know in the long run though.

~Mercury, Saturn and the Galactic Center~
Mercury will be conjunct Saturn at the beginning of the retrograde. Saturn is about to leave Sagittarius, so this is kind of a big aspect. It really intensifies the Sagittarius energy talked about above. There's almost an urgency to discovering the truth and getting on the right track. Also taking stock of what you really believe. This aspect is making us get serious. Both Mercury and Saturn have been in line with the galactic center (the center of our Milky Way galaxy) as well lately. That's a big deal and I feel like the meaning of it is so huge, it's hard for anyone to completely understand or explain. Basically I think the things we are discovering on a personal level (if we are in tune enough) can have effects on a world level and then on a galactic level.....because we are part of something huge and I think we discount how important we are as individuals in making up the 'whole'.  If more people step into their 'truths', really follow their path and step into a place of alignment with light and love, I believe that can effect the 'whole'. I think it is all too vast and complicated to truly understand, but important to reflect on and bring to your attention regardless.

~Other Aspects Mercury Will Make~
Mercury will be making a trine to the North Node. This will help us in further figuring out our life purpose and to further discover our most authentic version of our selves to move forward with. Step into your light!

Mercury will also trine Uranus. This aspect is definitely bringing some of that energy I was talking about. It also brings an element of change. Hard to sit still with this one.

Mercury will be squaring Chiron. This points to wounds coming up for healing. Healing wounds from the past that could come up.

Mercury will also be conjuncting Venus. This will bring up some relationship stuff for some.

~Wow! Lots to think about during this Mercury retrograde! Like I said, this one is more energized than usual. I'm sure you can already feel that. I think what we discover during this time will be very important for us all and it will be interesting to see how things move forward when Mercury turns direct again~

Mercury Retrograde: Time for Profound Reflection

Well it's happening again. Another planet is going retrograde. This time it's Mercury, which will start it's retrograde in Taurus on the 21st (2017) then it will go backwards through Aries and end on May 3rd. We have been in the midst of a lot of retrograde energy with Venus, Jupiter and Saturn all retrograde. Now Mercury is joining the mix and Pluto will be retrograde soon as well. Basically it's been a time with a huge emphasis on reflecting, reviewing, redoing etc.

It's time to look inwards. Time to sift through our thoughts and feelings to review the past and to see where we want to be going. There's no denying it though, this isn't your typical retrograde period. We are in the midst of some crazy astrological energy. Change is in the air. At the moment it's more like a start and stop motion with all the retrograde energy, but there is still so much that is shifting beneath the surface.

Of course with Mercury Retrograde there are all the typical things to remember. Communication may be rougher. Miscommunication is more bound to happen. It's important to be proactive and diligent about travel plans. Technology could go on the fritz. Remember that patience is truly a virtue.  Our thoughts are turned inwards, so let that happen and get what you can out of the reflection. Give yourself the time for it. Slow down. Connect with your innermost thoughts.

The past is always connected to retrogrades, so the past may come up and people from the past may reappear. In some cases it could be pure nostalgia. In other cases it could be more important or your karma may not be done with each other. In some ways this is a theme carried over from Venus Retrograde.

The Retrograde is starting out in Taurus. Mercury in Taurus is a slower mental energy. So take your time choosing the right words to say. This is the time to let your mind slow down; mull things over. Taurus is a practical earth sign, so get practical and real with yourself when you are reflecting on your life. Taurus is also concerned with what we value, so get in touch with what it is you really value.

The second half of the retrograde Mercury will be in Aries and the vibe will change. Be more careful of miscommunications during this period because unlike the slow Taurus energy, Aries is more impulsive. Careful of saying things you don't mean or saying things that could easily be miscommunicated. Mental energy may be more focused on yourself during this period. Wonderful time for self-reflection. Near the end of April Mercury will meet up with Uranus, which will be interesting. A lot of out of the box thinking will be around for the taking. Look out for some potentially brilliant ideas. You can get in touch with what you'd like to initiate when the retrograde is over during this time.

~Overall the energy is intense right now. Lots of change, but in a slower way at the moment. Not the best time to start new things, but such a great time for some very profound reflection and important revelations. I hope everyone makes it through the retrograde and when it's over hopefully we can implement some fantastic new changes in our lives.~

Mercury Retrograde: Time for Patience and Turning Inwards

Today (December 19th 2016) Mercury has turned retrograde. It will be retrograde till January 8th mostly in the sign of Capricorn and then ending in the sign of Sagittarius.

A retrograde = A planet's orbit slowing down and the appearance of the planet going backwards.

Basically a retrograde is a slowing down of energy and a turning inwards. During a Mercury retrograde communication can be slow and there can be communication mix ups, confusion and misinterpretation. Technology/appliances etc. can go on the fritz and travel plans can go awry.
The key with all this is patience. Mercury retrograde affects us so much in the modern world because we have forgotten patience to an extent with all our fast paced technology. If you slow down, have patience and roll with the punches, all these things shouldn't be too frustrating. Also, remember it's not a time to start new things. If you start something new the dynamic of it could change when Mercury goes direct.

Instead of starting new things, Mercury retrograde is good for anything that starts with re. Reviewing, reevaluating, reflecting, redoing etc. are the things you want to focus on. This energy can be helpful in many circumstances. This Mercury retrograde happens to fall at the end of the year, which may be helpful because we can process everything that has happened and think about how to preceed forward when Mercury goes direct.

Mercury turns mental energy inwards, so this can really help illuminate things hidden in the depths of our psyche. Make sure you rest and recuperate, so you have the time and space to turn your thinking inwards. This is a good time to rest and review after the last three months of crazy super moons. This is a time for self care and more alone time.

Mercury retrograde brings up the past as well. This energy resonates with the energy of the holidays. People from your past may be showing up and you may be thinking about past memories etc.

This Mercury retrograde mostly takes us back through the sign of Capricorn. This is a very practical sign and energy. This may help us review things in a practical manner and in a businesslike approach. This is good because perhaps the retrograde won't be as emotional as it would be otherwise. Mercury retrograde starts out conjunct Pluto. This sounds intense and power struggles may come up at first. The good news is that as the retrograde goes along, Mercury will be moving away from Pluto. So we will move away from these power struggles and come back to them when Mercury is going direct. So perhaps during our reviewing, we will become better equipped to deal with power struggles etc.

Lastly, Mercury ends it's retrograde in Sagittarius. At the very end of the retrograde, we will have to face up to our inner truths, which may be highlighted and illuminated. We might be reminded to deal with beliefs and thinking patterns that no longer serve us, which was something brought up during the Full Moon in Gemini.

~Yes Mercury retrograde can be frustrating. There are many positive and beneficial things brought about by Mercury retrograde though. If you have patience and really take the time to turn inwards and review, this shouldn't be too tough of a time. ~

Mercury Retrograde in Gemini: Retreat, Reflect and Rejuvenate

Today, May 18th 2015 Mercury is turning retrograde in Gemini. This retrograde will last until June 11th. I'm sure the thought of a Mercury Retrograde sends some of you into panic mode, but it really isn't as bad as you may think.  Mercury Retrograde doesn't mean anything bad will happen, it just means that some things may be slow or frustrating.

Mercury Retrograde is probably particularly frustrating in contemporary times because we expect communication to be fast, we don't have a lot of patience, and we forget how to slow down and take it easy. If you remember the three R's of Mercury Retrograde: Retreat, Reflect and Rejuvenate, you shouldn't have too bad of a time. Mercury is in Gemini this retrograde . Mercury and Gemini both rule the mind. During a retrograde we are urged to turn our minds inwards to reflect on and review our lives. Starting new projects isn't a good idea, instead let yourself have some contemplation time. Let yourself rest during this period of time. Try to stay in and not go out when you have free time. Take some relaxing bubble baths, take some naps, watch some of your favorite movies or prepare some homemade meals.

If you slow down and have some patience hopefully you won't get too frustrated. Communication, technology and travel plans still could get a bit mixed up and confusing though. You just have to roll with the punches. Starting new things isn't a good idea because they may not turn out very well. This is also not a good time to begin new relationships. However, it is a good time to catch up with old friends you haven't talked to in a while.

Overall Mercury Retrograde is what you make of it. Yes this may be a annoying time, but give yourself some much needed rest and downtime and you can turn this time into something positive.

Mercury Retrograde: Time to Slow Down and Smell the Flowers

Today, January 21st 2015, Mercury has stationed retrograde in Aquarius. It will be retrograde until February 11th. Mercury retrogrades always get a bad rap, but they are really just an opportunity to slow down and reflect.

Like the girl in the picture above, we need to take time to smell the flowers during this retrograde. Mercury retrograde has become frustrating in contemporary times because it is so incompatible with our fast paced, technology filled lives. If we allow ourselves to slow down a bit and to take in life during this retrograde things may not seem so frustrating. When it comes to communications and technology, the key is patience. In the old days when people communicated by letter and what not, I bet they weren't sitting around waiting for their letters with impatience and frustration as we sit around these days waiting for a response to a text or email we had only sent an hour before. If we have patience and are flexible, this retrograde won't affect us in such a bad way. Aquarius rules technology, so this retrograde may affect technology more than usual, so that's why patience is so important for this particular retrograde.

Mercury retrogrades are such great times to turn inward and reflect. This retrograde in particular may give us some great new and innovative ideas since it is in Aquarius. This could be a creative time. It's just not a good time to start anything though, so wait to put your big ideas into action until the retrograde is over.

Aquarius has to do with friendship and community, so during this retrograde we may want to re-connect with old friends or any community or groups you are part of. The emphasis though is on old friends or friends you already have as Mercury retrograde is not usually a good time to join a new group or make new friends.

The first day of the retrograde Mercury is conjunct the Moon, so the retrograde may start off in an emotional way. The night before some of you may have had insomnia because there was a New Moon and then right after that the Moon linked up with Mercury. Your minds may have been buzzing with excitement or ideas and you may have found it hard to go to sleep. Mercury will also be opposing Jupiter for awhile, which may be frustrating because Jupiter may be urging us to grow and expand and try new things, but Mercury wants us to slow down.

Overall this Mercury Retrograde shouldn't be too intense. Just remember to slow down, drink in life and reflect. Patience is a big key to this retrograde as well, so don't lose your cool. Patience is always a virtue during a Mercury retrograde.

Mercury Retrograde: Reflection and Rejuvenation

It's Mercury Retrograde time again! Mercury will be starting it's backwards cycle starting in Scorpio and then in Libra, starting tomorrow, October 4th 2014 at 10:03 AM (PDT). Mercury Retrograde isn't something to be dreaded as some people think, so don't freak out! It's a great time to reflect, review and rejuvenate. Communication and technology always does seem to go awry when Mercury is retrograde, but nothing major ever happens. It is important to be patient and slow down with Mercury's backward energy.

Mercury starts it's retrograde cycle in the intense and penetrative sign of Scorpio. This will be a particularly good time for some deep reflection. Reviewing deep seated feelings and psychological issues could be important. Mercury in Scorpio could help offer some penetrating insight into your problems, if you just take the time to slow down and think them through. The Scorpio part of the retrograde may be the part that will make us all want to retreat. Scorpio is a secretive and private sign and likes to keep to itself, which we may feel with the retrograde. This could be a great time to rejuvenate and think things through near water since Scorpio is a water sign. If you live near the ocean or a lake or a river, if the weather permits, go relax near the water! Of course another option would be to just take a contemplative and calming bath like the girl in the picture above. It is important to withdraw from the busy world to some extent during Mercury retrograde, so we can give ourselves time to think. In fact , one reason that we may all seem to find Mercury retrograde difficult is that we live in such a busy constant 'go go go' type of world that the slow energy of retrograde isn't compatible and we all end up feeling frustrated. If you remember to take it slow though, you may find that Mercury retrograde is more helpful to you than frustrating.

At the beginning of the retrograde Mercury will be loosely trine Neptune which also happens to be retrograde. This aspect may make things a little extra confusing. It may also make our dreams quite vivid though. Perhaps for a few days we will even get insight (Scorpio) into our problems through our dreams (Neptune). Also, some people may find that they have some psychic experiences. Mercury has been trine Neptune a little before the retrograde as well, so some of you may have been feeling this type of energy already.

Around October 10th Mercury moves even further backwards into the sign of Libra. During the part of the retrograde that is in Libra, it will be a good time to reflect and review relationships because of Libra's association with partnership and romance. If you have been needing to make a decision, this is a great time to weigh your options and think things through. However it will not be a good time to actually make a decision and go through with it. It's a good idea to wait until the retrograde is over for that!

Overall this Mercury Retrograde should be a helpful and thoughtful time. Just remember to slow down and relax as much as you are able to. If you are in too much of a rush during this time you may find it more exasperating than helpful. Patience truly is a virtue during a retrograde! On a side note,if you have any planets in Scorpio or Libra this influence could affect you more intensely than otherwise.
~Have a good Mercury Retrograde everyone, and remember to slow down and take it easy~

Mercury Retrograde: Retreat and Reflect

©wiccamoonsong.blogspot.com
On June 7th 2014 Mercury will turn retrograde in Cancer and then in Gemini until July 1st. Don't be alarmed though. Everyone usually freaks out when they hear Mercury Retrograde is coming and looks towards it's approach with a feeling of dread. It's true that communication and technology can get a bit crazy and confused during this time, however any incidents that might happen are usually pretty minor. The truth is, Mercury Retrograde is a very fortunate time for introverted activities such as reflecting, meditating and retreating. It's a great time to just be and to let everything go. Turning inward can help you connect with yourself on a deep level and can help you gain a different perspective.

Mercury's retrograde starts out in the sign of Cancer. Mercury's trip through Cancer will help us to review our feelings, emotions and possibly even some memories. Reflecting on our feelings may make us all a bit emotional of course, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This part of the retrograde may also cause us to want to stay home because we may crave the comforts and the retreat that home offers. Nurturing is an important trait that goes with the sign of Cancer, because of this we may feel during this retrograde that we want to nurture ourselves and also to reflect on ways we can better take care of ourselves.

After Mercury's backward trip through Cancer, it will go into the sign of Gemini. At this point after all the emotional reflecting and retreating at home, we will want to do a lot of thinking as Gemini is quite an intellectual sign. Usually Mercury in Gemini makes us 'skip' around a lot when it comes to thinking, but with Mercury retrograde we will be able to focus more since the energy will be a lot more slower paced. This will be a great time to really think things through and also may be quite favorable to activities such as writing as long as you go slowly and take your time.

Remember to not be scared of Mercury Retrograde. It is not a bad event whatsoever. What you think you attract, so if you think this time will be negative then guess what is coming your way? Negativity. So think this is a positive time and that's what it will be. Just remember to be patient and to slow down.
