Capricorn: The Sea Goat

Today, December 21st 2014 the Sun has entered the practical sign of Capricorn! To kick off Capricorn season I want to talk a bit about this wonderful and ambitious sign. 

Capricorn is the tenth sign in the zodiac and represents the tenth stage of evolution through the signs. In Sagittarius we discover how we fit into the greater picture and is the first sign where we discover all the other people in the world and become curious about them and their cultures. In Capricorn, now that we are aware of all these other people and society we want to bring structure to it all, to help organize the group and take personal responsibility within the group. 

Capricorn is the most ambitious sign. People with this Sun sign are usually quite ambitious and like to set goals for themselves. These people are not slackers, they are hard workers and take steps to fulfill their dreams. Some Capricorns have some huge and wonderful dreams and  as some people with big dreams don't ever put in the effort to make them come true, Capricorn will put in the work to fulfill their dreams. A great example of a Capricorn with big ideas who took the time to put them into form is J.R.R Tolkien, the writer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit. He created an entire complex world for those books and now there are extremely popular movies based on his work. This is all because he had a huge imagination and used the Capricorn in his chart to work hard to fulfill his vision. 

Capricorn's drive to accomplish is usually a great thing, but sometimes it can get out of hand. For starters, people with a Capricorn Sun sign can over identify with their accomplishments. This is because the Sun rules our identity. If you are a Capricorn you have to remember that even though what you have accomplished is fantastic, those things don't define you. You have worth just for being you whether you accomplish anything or not. Another troublesome aspect of the drive to accomplish is that some Capricorn's can get frustrated when things are not being accomplished the way they would like them to be. For instance if a Capricorn was setting up for an event and had to work in a group of people, they could get frustrated when things aren't being decorated the way they wanted them to be and thought was best. Capricorns have to remember not to harp on people for accomplishing things in a different manner than them. A better thing to do rather than always think your way is best, is to set an example to encourage others to live to their fullest potential as you do. 

Capricorns are ruled by Saturn which is a very authoritarian planet. This makes Capricorns love being in charge. They do great in positions in authority and may not like it when they are subordinate to someone. They makes great bosses because of this and would also do well starting their own business or working for themselves. Capricorns would also do great as a boss or on their own because they are very responsible and disciplined. Capricorns always get done what needs to be done. 

Capricorn is an earth sign which make them practical and grounded people. This relation to the earth and the material plane also makes Capricorns cautious of money and desiring of security in the material world. They enjoy material things and luxury, but they will always be cautious of their finances and will probably never live above their means. As much as Capricorns enjoy the wonderful material things life has to offer, they have to remember never to sacrifice themselves for it. 

Overall Capricorn is a lovely sign that shows us all how to be more practical and ambitious. I am always in awe of what Capricorns can accomplish. Many wonderful things have been created by Capricorns who materialized their dreams into form. I hope all the Capricorns out there have a wonderful birthday month and those who are not Capricorns I recommend making use of this great Capricorn energy to get some things accomplished that have been sitting on the back burner for way too long!

New Moon in Capricorn: Ambition, Motivation and Hard Work

On December 21st 2014 at 5:36 PM (PST) there will be a New Moon in Capricorn which will be the last New Moon of the year. There's not a lot going on with this New Moon when it comes to aspects and such, so it shouldn't be too intense. 

Capricorn is a very ambitious sign, so this New Moon is great to start following your ambitions or to decide to work harder to fulfill your dreams. If you haven't had the drive to get projects going or haven't felt motivated recently, this New Moon could give you the drive you may have been lacking. For a select few, this New Moon could even give you a lucky break or chance for success. With Christmas only four days after this New Moon,  this could help you get some last minute Christmas things done if you have been procrastinating. Also with New Years right around the corner, this New Moon may make you feel motivated to start making some New Year's resolutions. New Year's always is in the sign of Capricorn, which is probably why we have New Year's resolutions in the first place. Capricorn is full of ambition and so are our resolutions. 

Overall this isn't a crazy or intense New Moon. It shouldn't be emotional or anything like that, it is just very practical. All this New Moon is really giving us is the chance to structure our lives a bit more, get done what we need to do, and to follow our ambitions and dreams. 

Full Moon in Gemini: The Last Full Moon of the Year

Tomorrow, December 6th 2014, we will have the last Full Moon of the year at 4:27 AM (PST). The Full Moon will be in Gemini and there is a lot of planetary energy going on around it. 

The most intense aspect to this Full Moon will be Chiron's square to both the Moon and the Sun. Chiron's involvement in this Full Moon means that we all will have to release and deal with some of our wounds. Chiron's square to the Moon in Gemini signifies that we have to release mental and thought patterns that are no longer serving us. It's important that we free up our minds during this Full Moon. Chiron's square to the Sun signifies that we also need to release beliefs that we have held that our no longer serving us. Basically, Chiron's involvement in this Full Moon is showing us that it's time to release any negative thoughts and beliefs we've had about ourselves, others, or the world during the past year. Perhaps some of our thoughts and beliefs have held us back in some way this past year. Chiron is in Pisces, so perhaps our negative thoughts and beliefs have made us loose faith in some way or made us feel disconnected and alone. Chiron's square during this last Full Moon of the year, is helping us to release these mental habits, so that we can start the new year off right. Chiron is urging us to start 2015 off with a mind clear of negative thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs, so that we are no longer held back by stinkin' thinkin'.  

During the past week or so, some of you may have had a hard time. The energy may have felt intense to you, things may have felt out of control, or some unexpected events may have happened. Personally I have felt and seen evidence of this weird energy! Loved ones have complained of intense and emotional energy, the weather has been a little crazy where I live, my cat was acting odd, and my sleeping pattern has been really off. Perhaps some of you have experienced similar things. This intense energy is because of a square between Uranus and Pluto. They have squared each other numerous times during the past year or so and every time they square the energy is intense and weird to say the least. Uranus also was trine the Sun this week adding to the madness. Uranus will still be trine the Sun during the Full Moon and will play a part in this planetary extravaganza. Uranus is the wild card of all the planets, so who knows what sort of wacky unexpected energy it will bring during this Full Moon. Although, Uranus's energy still may have been felt stronger earlier in the week and may not cause much havoc over the weekend. In any case, be prepared for whatever might come your way! 

Overall this Full Moon has a lot to do with thinking, beliefs and our minds. If we release any negativity and what not, we will be able to make room for wonderful new thoughts, ideas and beliefs. We can also clear our minds and make room to learn some new things! The energy may be intense, but as always the planets are trying to help and guide us. Banish those bad thoughts and beliefs from your heart and mind, so that you can heal your wounds and start afresh in the new year. 

Sagittarius: The Archer

 Yesterday, November 22nd 2014, the Sun entered the wonderful sign of Sagittarius. The Sun will stay in Sagittarius for about a month and because of this I would like to talk about the traits of Sagittarius in general and as a Sun sign. 

Sagittarius is the ninth sign in the zodiac and represents the ninth stage of evolution through the signs. Sagittarius is the first transpersonal sign and realizes that we are all part of a bigger picture. Therefore Sagittarius is greatly concerned with seeking the truth of how every thing fits together.  This makes Sagittarians seekers and philosophers, questioning life and how it works. 

Sagittarians usually love learning because they are always seeking answers. Sagittarius is  the sign  that rules higher education and many Sagittarians may decide to go to college or at least devote part of their lives to independent learning. Sagittarians may also have interest in religion or spirituality because of their strong desire to find answers about how the universe works. 

Sagittarians are usually quite free-spirited. They are ruled by the freedom loving planet Jupiter, so it's no wonder that they enjoy and cherish their freedom. If you have a Sagittarius in your life , remember to never restrict them in any way because chances are, they won't like it! Their love for freedom can also be expressed through travel, which they usually adore. Many Sagittarians long to roam the world to explore and learn about foreign countries and cultures. 

Sagittarius is a fire sign which makes Sagittarians action oriented most of the time. They usually like when there is a lot of action in their lives. Sometimes this desire for action can manifest as a love for sports. Sagittarians can be quite athletic if they have an inclination for it. The desire for action can also make Sagittarians highly invested in the future and many of them love to set future goals for themselves. 

Sagittarians are optimists. This is probably due to the fact that they are ruled by Jupiter which is the most benevolent and positive planet. Sagittarians always see the bright side of things and are usually pretty enthusiastic. 

Overall, Sagittarius is a lovely and cheerful sign that is on a quest for the truth. Happy Birthday month to all the Sagittarians out there and everyone remember to think more optimistically this month just like a Sagittarius (It will do you good, trust me !) 

New Moon in Sagittarius: Heading in New Directions

On November 22nd 2014 at 4:32 AM (PST) there will be a New Moon in Sagittarius. This should be an optimistic and positive New Moon, which will be a welcome change after the two eclipses we had and all the Scorpio energy that has been around lately. 

The New Moon in Sagittarius is all about going in a new direction and setting new goals. Sagittarius loves adventure and looks toward the future with positive aspirations, so expect to be doing that as well. Sagittarius is a fire sign, so expect for things to start moving quicker in your life. Think about things you have been wanting to do lately, but have been putting on the back burner. Those things are what you should finally give attention too. Where this New Moon falls in your Natal Chart will determine what area of your life you will be putting new energy into. Perhaps you will want to start a new creative project, get a new job, or go in a new direction with a relationship. Sagittarius rules foreign travel, so perhaps it's time to finally decide to take that trip you've been dying to take.

Regardless of which direction this Sagittarius New Moon takes you, you should feel a burst of positive energy during this time. This New Moon is a welcome relief after some intense energy lately and should give us all a breath of fresh air and new found inspiration. 

Full Moon in Taurus: Goodbye Stability, Hello Change!

On November 6th 2014 there will be a Full Moon in Taurus at 2:23 PM. This Full Moon will further enforce the issues that the Solar Eclipse in Scorpio dealt with, mainly the need to transform. 

A Full Moon always happens when the Sun and the Moon are opposing. This Full Moon, the Moon will be in Taurus and the Sun will be in Scorpio, which means that we will be dealing with Taurus and Scorpio issues. Full Moons are about letting go of that which no longer serves us, so we will have to let go of Taurus issues this Full Moon. The issue that we really have to deal with during the Full Moon is our relationship to stability. Do we cling to it too tightly? Are we playing it too safe? Are we being excessively stubborn? We have to let go of our dependance on stability because the Scorpio Sun, particularly after the Solar Eclipse is urging us to transform our lives and welcome change. 

Venus will be conjunct the Sun during the Full Moon which brings relationships to the forefront. Astrologically, relationships have been on the radar recently. This particular conjunction during the Full Moon urges us to transform our relationships on a deep level. Pluto will also be playing a minor part during this Full Moon by a loose trine with the Moon. Pluto just further urges us to welcome change and transform ourselves. 

It's all about transformation these days! So let go of that which no longer serves you, let go of your dependency on stability, and let yourself and your life transform and change. A good thing to remember right now, particularly during this Full Moon, is that the only constant thing in life is change. 

Scorpio: The Scorpion

Today, October 23rd 2014 is the first day of the Sun's transit through Scorpio! The sign of Scorpio is known for being an intense and mysterious sign and because it is the month of Scorpio I want to dive into the secrets of Scorpio and the personality of a Scorpio Sun. 

Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac and represents the eighth stage of evolution through the signs.  In the seventh stage of Libra we learn to relate and have relationships with other people. We try to connect to them on a mental level and desire balanced, harmonious relationships. In Scorpio we want to take relating with others to a deeper level. We now want to connect to them emotionally, not just mentally. In Scorpio we desire to have one on one relationships that are really meaningful, we desire complete union with another person, hence Scorpios association with sex.

Besides connecting with people in a deep and profound way Scorpio is greatly concerned with transformation and the cycles of life such as sex, birth, death and rebirth. My personal favorite symbol for Scorpio is that of a phoenix because it so accurately describes the transformation Scorpios seem to constantly go through. They can face the darkness of life and sometimes get sucked into it, but they have this amazing ability to let go parts of themselves that no longer serve them, die and to rise up from their ashes, reborn and better than they were before. It also seems like many Scorpios experience events that greatly push them to transform, as learning transformation seems to be part of their lessons here on earth. 

Scorpios are very intense and passionate people. Scorpio is a fixed sign and perhaps this is what gives Scorpios the ability to really focus on things. They are very determined and when they want something chances are they will get it because they put their whole heart and soul into what they love and what they desire. They can become obsessed sometimes with things that they love as well. 

Scorpio is a water sign and is therefore concerned with emotion. Scorpios feel emotion on a very very deep level. They may not show their feelings to most people though, reserving it for those of their close 'inner circle' and for private moments. They have tons of feelings and emotions though, that other signs would possibly find it hard to deal with. Scorpios feel life so acutely most of time. A beautiful song could touch their soul in inexplainable ways, a gorgeous spring day could uplift them with joy, or a sad story could rip their heart to shreds. This is what life feels like to a lot of Scorpios at times, though others may not notice. Scorpios are called magnetic a lot of the time and perhaps it is because of how strongly they 'feel' life. Perhaps others find them on an unconscious level to be throbbing with all the pain and joy of life and this makes them attractive and interesting to others, like  some sort of pandoras box. Scorpios also may come off as mysterious which may also interest others, although perhaps over time it can be frustrating as well. Scorpios may come across as mysterious because they tend to be closely guarded or secretive. They can be a bit suspicious of others and so put up guards until they are sure that a person is trustworthy.  A lot of Scorpios only like to open up to a handful of people, so if a Scorpio has opened themselves up to you, consider yourself lucky because you must be quite a trustworthy person who they love a whole lot. Some Scorpios however may have secrets and parts of their personality which they will never share with anyone. As secretive as they are Scorpios can easily find out other peoples secrets. They can sometimes have a type of intuition that lets them read between the lines and if you're lying, a Scorpio could very easily find out. In fact Scorpios could do very well as detectives or any other line of work that involves reading between the lines because of their strong perceptions.

 Scorpios do not like control what so ever. They will not on any level ever let anyone control them. This is not a bad thing. The bad thing is that some Scorpios can hate being controlled so much, that they start being a bit controlling themselves. Scorpios like being the ones in power. This can of course manifest as a bad thing and they could potentially deal with some control issues in their lives. However, remember that Scorpios are like the mythical phoenix, they can transform. If a Scorpio starts having control issues they can completely turn themselves around. They can realize that the only thing we truly have control over is how we react to things. If they realize this they can be truly powerful in a really positive way. 

Jealousy is another difficult and not so great feeling that Scorpios can sometimes have to grapple with. They can become quite jealous particularly over a partner. They can get that way because they want to be the sole object of their partners affection. Scorpios are usually wonderfully loyal and expect partners to return that loyalty. The jealous bug can start to eat at them if they feel like any loyalty is being threatened. If they learn to control their reactions though, this won't be too big of a problem and sometimes a little jealous is healthy simply cause it's human and shows we care. 

The last 'difficult' attribute of Scorpio is the famous scorpion sting. Like a scorpion, Scorpios have a defense mechanism. When someone hurts them, which could be quite painful noting how vibrantly they feel life, they defend themselves. They may say some pretty awful mean things that hurt you at your core, but that is really only because you hurt them at their core. Of course this isn't a great attribute, but it's something Scorpios can sometimes have to cope with. Scorpios feel and have to deal with a lot of dark emotions at times , but they can absolutely transform from it and when they choose to transform it is truly magical and inspiring. Scorpios have huge reserves of strength. They may be vulnerable, but they can fight they're inner demons and come out tenfolds stronger. 

The sign of Scorpio has a reputation for being intense and maybe even a bit scary. Scorpios are truly magnificent though, because they have to deal with the murky depths of the pschye where most people don't want to go. They can face the darkness and utterly transform themselves which I can't stress enough how amazing that is. They are phoenixes and butterflies, the transformers of the world. They have strength to face and fight the darkness and they have the beautiful strength to feel every last bit of human emotion. 

Happy Birthday to all the Scorpios out there! I hope everyone has a great month and remember that this month is a wonderful time to transform ourselves (especially with the eclipse) and to appreciate the most beautiful gift we have as human; emotions. 

Solar Eclipse in Scorpio: Rise From the Ashes

On October 23rd 2014 at 2:57 PM there will be a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio. Emotions have run high lately and relationships have been turbulent as there has been a lot of intense cosmic activity, such as the Libra Lunar Eclipse and Mercury Retrograde. The Solar Eclipse may add to the intensity, but because Solar Eclipses have to do with new beginnings, this Eclipse offers us a fresh start if we are willing to do the work and move forward. 

Scorpio is known as the most intense sign in the zodiac which is no surprise since it is the sign that rules sex, birth, death and rebirth.  Scorpio goes where other signs are afraid to go; in the murky depths of the psyche. Eclipses usually shine light on things we have been keeping hidden that need to be dealt with, similar to Scorpio. Also Mercury Retrograde has been making us turn inwards to deal with our problems. This energy is similar to Scorpio and chances are you may have had to deal with some deep rooted psychological issues or patterns lately. This Scorpio Eclipse is going to push us to clean out our psyches. It's time to start fresh without all the baggage in our souls that our wearing us down. It's time to release those negative patterns and live life in a new, fresh, and free way. The Solar Eclipse offers us empowerment on a deep level as long as we are willing to release and start fresh. Some of you may think that it is impossible to start fresh, that the experiences you have gone through have affected you permanently, that the patterns you have are ingrained in you for the rest of your life, you may think there is no going back. Scorpio shows us that this simply isn't true. Scorpio is the keeper of a wonderful type of magic, the magic of transformation. The most common symbol attached to Scorpio is a scorpion, but Scorpio has another very powerful symbol as well, that of a phoenix.  This symbol of a phoenix is where the magic of transformation lies in Scorpio. Scorpio shows us that we can become really messed up from our experiences, and become stuck in a dark place, but that the moment we realize this, we can decide to burn up that part of ourselves until it is reduced to ashes and recreate ourselves again and have a real fresh start. This is exactly what the Solar Eclipse offers us and if we are smart we should grab hold of this opportunity and transmute and transform ourselves just like the mythical phoenix.

There are some other planets that are affecting this Solar Eclipse as well. The first is Venus which will be exactly conjunct the Eclipse. Venus's influence means that the theme that has been going on with relationships will be on going. Hopefully this aspect will bring more pleasantness to the relationship arena than the Lunar Eclipse did. Chances are if the Lunar Eclipse brought up any relationship problems for you ( any kind of relationship, not just romantic) you may have realized that you needed to let something go from the past that is hindering you in your present relationships, so now is the perfect time to let these issues go. Perhaps a light bulb will go off in your head and you will realize exactly what you need to release.  This can be a really great thing because we all could have the opportunity to have much healthier relationships than we have had previously. 

The second planet that will be affecting the Eclipse is Neptune which will be trine the Eclipse. This is a positive aspect with Neptune and may provide some intuitive feelings as to what steps we should take to free up our psyche. Neptune may also offer extra spiritual healing and divine guidance. Neptune is the planet that shows us that we are all divine spiritual beings and that we are always connected to source. This is a truth that may help some of you with healing some inner wounds. 

This is an intense time we are living through right now, but we are given a chance to become empowered. This Solar Eclipse is probably going to bring some big changes for a lot of people, and hopefully a huge amount of healing for every ones psyche as well. We have to be like the girl in the picture above who is staring the moon in the face. We have to do the same with our psychological issues, we have to acknowledge them, decide to rise above them and start afresh like the phoenix rising from the ashes. 

I wish you all the best during this time of intense cosmic activity and profound healing. Remember that the magic of transformation lies within you and it is yours to use whenever you wish. Become a phoenix and empower yourself!

Lunar Eclipse in Aries: Change is on the Horizon

On October 8th 2014 at 3:51 AM (PDT) there will be a total Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Aries. Lunar Eclipses are always big events, but this one is particularly jam packed with cosmic activity!

During this Lunar Eclipse the Moon will be in Aries and the Sun will of course be opposing in the sign of Libra. This means that a major theme during this eclipse will be balancing independence and harmony within relationships. There may be a great need to compromise in relationships between what we want and what others want. Lunar Eclipses are about letting things go that aren't serving us anymore and they urge us to detox our lives. With this Eclipse the things we need to let go of, are ideas we have about ourselves, our identity and independence. The nodes always play a big part in Lunar Eclipses and this time the South Node will be quite close to the Moon urging us to release some old deep rooted patterns that are related to how we view our independence and needs. Uranus will be very closely conjunct the Moon which means that Uranus will be urging us to break free from old patterns especially ones that restrict us in any way. Uranus may also bring some unexpected surprises which it is notorious for, but there's no telling with Uranus what they may be. 

There are many planets  participating in this Lunar Eclipse, mainly because there will be a grand trine in fire. The grand trine will be between the Moon and Uranus conjunct, Mars in Sagittarius, and Jupiter in Leo. This means that there are some big changes coming. It's a little weird because Lunar Eclipses are about letting go usually and not about starting new things, but this one is almost about both. If we let go our issues around ourselves and our relationships then we will open the door for tons of exciting big changes. Uranus is the one that mainly brings change, but Jupiter brings expansion and Mars brings the energy to start new and exhilarating projects, so get ready to welcome new and wonderful things into your life. Lunar Eclipses can be emotional and with this grand trine in fire going on , the emotions that we may particularly feel are anger and frustration. These emotions may come up if we feel like it has been hard to compromise in relationships or if we are holding on to old toxic behavioral patterns, which as I mentioned are important things to figure out during this Eclipse. 

This Lunar Eclipse will be intense, but it will help us out with our relationships and usher in big changes! Remember to let go of any old patterns and views you may have about yourself and to try to compromise within relationships. These are the two most important things to remember during this Eclipse. This Eclipse will affect a large number of people because of all the planets involved. If you have any planets in Aries, Libra, Sagittarius and Leo though , this Eclipse may be the most intense for you. Nonetheless, big changes are on the horizon for everyone!~

Mercury Retrograde: Reflection and Rejuvenation

It's Mercury Retrograde time again! Mercury will be starting it's backwards cycle starting in Scorpio and then in Libra, starting tomorrow, October 4th 2014 at 10:03 AM (PDT). Mercury Retrograde isn't something to be dreaded as some people think, so don't freak out! It's a great time to reflect, review and rejuvenate. Communication and technology always does seem to go awry when Mercury is retrograde, but nothing major ever happens. It is important to be patient and slow down with Mercury's backward energy. 

Mercury starts it's retrograde cycle in the intense and penetrative sign of Scorpio. This will be a particularly good time for some deep reflection. Reviewing deep seated feelings and psychological issues could be important. Mercury in Scorpio could help offer some penetrating insight into your problems, if you just take the time to slow down and think them through. The Scorpio part of the retrograde may be the part that will make us all want to retreat. Scorpio is a secretive and private sign and likes to keep to itself, which we may feel with the retrograde. This could be a great time to rejuvenate and think things through near water since Scorpio is a water sign. If you live near the ocean or a lake or a river, if the weather permits, go relax near the water! Of course another option would be to just take a contemplative and calming bath like the girl in the picture above. It is important to withdraw from the busy world to some extent during Mercury retrograde, so we can give ourselves time to think. In fact , one reason that we may all seem to find Mercury retrograde difficult is that we live in such a busy constant 'go go go' type of world that the slow energy of retrograde isn't compatible and we all end up feeling frustrated. If you remember to take it slow though, you may find that Mercury retrograde is more helpful to you than frustrating. 

At the beginning of the retrograde Mercury will be loosely trine Neptune which also happens to be retrograde. This aspect may make things a little extra confusing. It may also make our dreams quite vivid though. Perhaps for a few days we will even get insight (Scorpio) into our problems through our dreams (Neptune). Also, some people may find that they have some psychic experiences. Mercury has been trine Neptune a little before the retrograde as well, so some of you may have been feeling this type of energy already. 

Around October 10th Mercury moves even further backwards into the sign of Libra. During the part of the retrograde that is in Libra, it will be a good time to reflect and review relationships because of Libra's association with partnership and romance. If you have been needing to make a decision, this is a great time to weigh your options and think things through. However it will not be a good time to actually make a decision and go through with it. It's a good idea to wait until the retrograde is over for that!

Overall this Mercury Retrograde should be a helpful and thoughtful time. Just remember to slow down and relax as much as you are able to. If you are in too much of a rush during this time you may find it more exasperating than helpful. Patience truly is a virtue during a retrograde! On a side note,if you have any planets in Scorpio or Libra this influence could affect you more intensely than otherwise.

Libra: The Scales

Yesterday, September 22nd 2014 the Sun entered the lovely sign of Libra! I want to talk in depth about the sign of Libra and the personality of a Libra Sun because of the month long trip through Libra that the Sun is currently taking.  

Libra represents the seventh stage of evolution through the zodiac signs. It was first in Cancer that we recognized our relationship to other people. In Leo and in Virgo this relationship was explored in different ways as well. Now in Libra we of course have a recognition of people and our relationship to them, but this happens to be the first sign where we recognize other people as individuals . In Libra we want to connect to these individuals on a mental and social level. We are interested in them and we want to form balanced and harmonious relationships with them. 

Libra's symbol is the scales. Scales are all about balance and so are Libras. In fact balance and harmony are essential to their lives. When a Libras internal scales are out of balance, they could feel quite frustrated and 'out of whack'.  This unbalanced feeling can actually happen quite often for  some Libras because in our hectic world it can be hard to remain balanced and peaceful all the time. They will always try very hard though to bring everything back into balance when things are askew. 

Libra's scales can also help them weigh two options. Libra's are known for being very fair minded and diplomatic, they want what's best for everybody. I actually have a funny little story to tell that demonstrates the fair energy of Libra. Today ( Sep 23rd)  there is a New Moon in Libra, so of course the Libra energy is quite strong. My fiancee absolutely loves soccer, so we were watching a soccer game this morning and the game went way past overtime and far into penalties ( I think that's what it's called...) because the two teams kept coming to a tie, over and over again! I'm not even a big sports fan, but I thought it was so interesting because the Libra energy was so strong it was almost impossible for one team to win. The scales wanted balance, equality and fairness for everybody and that is exactly how Libras can act sometimes. They want to come to solutions that are a win win for everybody. 

The Sun has trouble expressing itself in Libra at times because the Sun wants individuality, but Libra's identity can easily get lost and become wrapped up in a relationship with another person. It is important for Libra's to remember that having a harmonious relationship with someone while at the same time retaining their own individuality is a source of balance and is therefore very important for them. Speaking of relationships, Libra does in fact absolutely love them. They are very romantic at heart which is no wonder as Venus is their ruling planet. Libra's can feel incomplete when they aren't in partnerships. This makes a little bit of sense when you think about the fact that there are two scales in the symbol for Libra. If there was only one little scale, there wouldn't be any balance, would there? Libra almost needs another person to be the opposing scale so that they feel complete and balanced in their lives. This is a complicated issue, and relationships will be a big learning arena for Libras in this lifetime. Through them they can find ultimate balance, but it is quite a feat to do so. 

Another trait that goes along with the scales, is indecisiveness. Libras are in fact notorious for being indecisive. They want to weigh their options before coming to a final decision. They fear making a wrong decision because they of course don't want to disrupt any balance in their lives. Even though, they are indecisive, they have the ability to 'make things happen'. They can be 'go- getters' and when something needs to done or they want something, they will go after it with gusto. This is because Libra is a cardinal sign. You can be sure though, that they won't go after anything until they have made sure that it is the right choice. 

As I mentioned before, Libra is ruled by Venus. This rulership, besides creating a love of relationships, also creates a love of beauty with Libras. Lots of Libras are lovers of the arts. They also may always seem to be dressed nicely and their homes may be quite aesthetically pleasing. 

Libra is an air sign. This makes Libras primarily concerned with the mental realm. They usually can be pretty intellectual. They usually aren't too emotional. This is also interesting when you think about the fact that Libra is the only zodiac sign whose symbol is an inanimate object. Emotions are messy for them and they may feel like they could disrupt the peace. Relationships though, since they are so important to a Libra's life may be a source of emotion. Make sure you remember  that we are talking about a Libra Sun sign. A Moon sign in a person's chart can be a huge signifier of emotion, so if someone is a Libra Sun, but they have a Scorpio Moon, then they could be a lot more emotional than a typical Libra for instance. 

A Libras downfall can be people pleasing or twisting the truth to maintain harmony. They must learn that this is false harmony. If they learn to allow themselves to give their own opinion and always tell the truth, then they can have real harmony in their lives.

The above quote by John Keats is an important one for Libras to remember. If you want beauty and you want harmony, you must realize that only the truth and things that are real are beautiful. Falsehoods and false living are not beautiful and are not harmonious.

New Moon in Libra: Balance, Harmony, Beauty and Transformation

On September 23rd 2014 at 11:14 PM (PDT) there will be a New Moon in Libra. This New Moon will be the most potent if you have any planets in Libra, particularly around 1 degree. 

Libra is greatly concerned with balance and harmony, because of this, it is a great time to bring any part of your life that needs it, back into balance. If you've been spending too much time on one area of your life and not enough time on some other areas, than you may have been feeling out of balance and frustrated lately. If you have indeed been feeling that way, then now is the time to manifest some harmony, peace and balance back into your life! Libra is also concerned with beauty. This means that if you want to 'beautify' anything in your life, now is a great time to do that as well. If you feel like your home needs a makeover, or you've been wanting to change your hairstyle or something along those lines, now is a great time to do those things. Beauty isn't always on the outside though. If your thoughts have been negative and you've realized that you've been attracting a lot of negativity in your life because of it, then now is a great time to decide to 'beautify' your thoughts as well. If you do so, then you can naturally attract more beautiful and positive circumstances into your life! Relationships are another area of life which Libra is greatly concerned with. This means that it could potentially be a good time to start a new relationship or to date. If you are currently in a relationship and it needs to be rebalanced, then now is a great time to try to make your relationship more harmonious and fair. 

Libra is also concerned with justice, so if you have been treated unfairly or are even perhaps going through a court case of some kind, then now is also a great time for situations to turn out fairly and justly for you. 

There isn't a lot particularly going on with the New Moon, such as aspects and what not, but there is a lot going on around it. The first day of Autumn for instance, is the day before the New Moon and also on the first day of Autumn, Pluto finally turns direct after being retrograde. Both of these events add to the energy of new beginnings and manifesting new things. When Pluto was retrograde we had to turn inwards and decide on transformation that needed to happen in our lives and we may have done some 'inner' work as well. Now that Pluto is direct we can use this energy to transform our lives, which is great that this happens right at the New Moon. The New Moon therefore is filled with the energy of a new season, new beginnings, harmony, balance, beauty, and transformation. That sounds pretty wonderful and powerful, doesn't it? 

Super Moon in Pisces: Reconnecting to Source

On September 8th 2014 at 6:38 PM (PDT) there will be a Full Moon in Pisces. This Full Moon will be the last Super Moon of the year, making it more intense than a typical Full Moon. 

With a Full Moon in Pisces a lot of you in the last couple of days may have been feeling sensitive (emotionally and energetically), tired, day dreamy, wanting to escape , and your dreams may have been more vivid. The Full Moon is conjunct Chiron making it important to release wounds at this time. The types of wounds that will most likely be brought up are spiritual wounds, which means if you have any issues with feeling lonely, disconnected from your soul or source, your spirituality, or your sensitivity , now is the opportune time to let these go. 

The Full Moon is also trine Saturn, which should be a relatively positive aspect. This means if you have been holding on to any control issues or restricting yourself in any way, now is a great time to let that go as well, which if done, should really help in a positive way. 

Since the Full Moon is taking place on the Pisces and Virgo axis now is also a good time to balance out your spiritual life with your physical life. During the last New Moon, if you were a person that realized they needed to start living life in a way where you aren't hard on yourself and where you stop expecting yourself to be perfect, this Full Moon could be a great opportunity to let those expectations go for good. Virgo wants everything to be perfect , but Pisces realizes that everything doesn't need to be perfect because it already is truly perfect in it's imperfection. Pisces knows that we are all part of source, which is true perfection and that we need to see this innate perfection within ourselves. This makes it a great time to drop those Virgo hang- ups and embrace the Pisces knowledge of being part of source and knowing that we are perfect the way we are. Embracing that knowledge can also help with any Chiron wounds about feeling disconnected as well. 

~Overall this last Super Moon of the year should be quite positive and helpful. It is a fantastic opportunity to let go of many types of issues and wounds. If we acknowledge that we are part of the source of all things it can truly solve a myriad of problems. ~

New Moon in Virgo: Self Improvement, Re-Organization, and that Unattainable Thing Called Perfection

On August 25th 2014 at 7:13 AM (PDT) there will be a New Moon in Virgo. There isn't a whole lot of action going on around the New Moon, but it still might bring forth some issues related to perfection, self improvement or organization. If you have a planet in Virgo in your chart then it will probably affect you a little more deeply than others. 

Virgo is greatly concerned with perfection. This means in general that the New Moon asks us to decide what we could make better in our lives. What area needs improvement? Is it your work life, home life, relationships etc.? Virgo is also concerned with organization so another great question to ask is which area of your life needs organizing? Is is your home, your desk, your office, your life in general or even your thoughts?  If you can find an area of your life that needs improvement or organizing then now is a great time to set intentions for that. 

Those little simple issues will be what most people will have to think about and set intentions for, but if you have any Virgo planets in your chart that are somewhere around 2 degrees of Virgo than this New Moon will be a more intense experience for you. If you have a Virgo planet than you might already be a perfectionist in some way shape or form in a certain area in your life. This means that one way the New Moon could affect you is by bringing up any tendencies to over critize and get overly caught up with a state of perfection that simply isn't possible to reach. If you are doing any of those things than you might feel like you are living in cage that you created for yourself and are blocking some good things from coming into your life or blocking your own happiness. If this is the case than the Virgo New Moon will remind you that to truly improve yourself it would be wise to stop being so hard on yourself and everything around you. The New Moon could encourage you to manifest a way of living life where you stop trying to over perfect everything and drop the 'I'm not good enough' syndrome. If this is something that you feel needs to happen in your life, than the New Moon could be really empowering for you.  

Another way the New Moon could manifest if you have a Virgo planet in your chart would be to help you get organized if you haven't been lately. Then the New Moon could help you kicks start into a cycle of re organization. 

~Overall the New Moon probably won't be too intense or strong for a lot of people. If you have Virgo in your chart though, it could be quite powerful. Remember that complete perfection is unattainable and that you are your own jailer. So if you've been too hard on yourself, set yourself free already with this wonderful New Moon. If you need to get yourself organized on the other hand than use the Virgo Moon's magical abilities of organization to get your life in order! Also, don't forget to set intentions, as they are the most important part of manifesting what you want during the time of the New Moon ~

Virgo: The Maiden

Today, August 22nd 2014 the Sun has entered the wonderful sign of Virgo, so Happy Birthday month to all of the Virgos out there! In this article I'm going to talk about the sign of Virgo and the personality of someone with a Virgo Sun.

Virgo is the 6th sign in the zodiac and therefore represents the 6th stage of evolution through the signs. In Cancer and Leo we discovered our relationship to other people. Virgo though, is the first sign where we start to put other's needs in front of our own. This makes Virgo a very helpful sign that wants to be of service and be reliable to others because it gives them a sense of approval. 

A very important thing to a Virgo is perfection. They strive for perfection like no other and want to perfect the physical realm. It's important for them though to not be too hard on themselves about achieving perfection. Otherwise everything will end up disappointing them because nothing is ever truly perfect. Instead they can gently encourage themselves and others to be the best they can be, while knowing that they can indeed improve things, but reaching a level of perfection is physically impossible. 

Virgos as said before, are exceedingly helpful and useful. They want to be of use to others and feel good when they are told that they are super reliable and efficient. They are also very hard workers, but must make sure that they do not become workaholics. 

The sign of Virgo is ruled by Mercury making Virgos highly intellectual. They are usually pretty smart and analytical. They have a great eye for detail and are great at staying organized. They also can become quite critical. This can be a good thing for being some sort of a critic and for giving constructive criticism. They must make sure though, not to become overly critical or judgmental of themselves or others. 

Virgo is the sign of health, so Virgos can sometimes have quite an interest in health. They usually have really good hygiene and become germaphobic when others are sick, staying away so that they don't get sick as well. 

Virgo has a complicated sexuality. A lot of the time the sign of Virgo is associated with virginity and other times it is associated with goddesses of fertility. They usually have two different sides to their sexuality because of this. There is a side of them that can be a bit prudish that thinks sex is a bit messy. Then there is the other side of them that is quite earthy, sensual and sexual. 

~Overall Virgo is a lovely sign that is always striving to make the world a better place and always trying to help out fellow human beings and encouraging them to keep trying their best. Remember to wish any Virgo friends Happy Birthday and this month use the Virgo energy to achieve your goals on the journey to becoming a better person and be helpful to those around you ~

Introversion and Extroversion: It's in Your Chart!

Yes, you can tell whether you are introverted, extroverted or even a balance of both through your natal chart. You can find this out through something called polarities. There are two polarities, negative and positive. They both correlate to yin and yang energy. Negative energy is yin and introverted; and positive energy is yang and extroverted. All the earth and water signs are negative and all the fire and air signs are positive. If you have a preponderance of negative planets you are most likely an introvert and likewise if you have a preponderance of positive planets you are most likely an extrovert. If you have a balance of both positive and negative then you are probably both introverted and extroverted, or what some like to call an ambivert. Now let's explore in greater depth what these polarity balances mean. 

If you have predominantly negative planets than of course you are most likely introverted. People with mostly negative planets have broad inner lives full of introspection. They love alone time which they gain energy from and aren't too fond of lots of social activity as it can be draining. Negative people are very reflective and have lots going on in their minds. These people usually have greater self understanding than others and find comfort in solitude. They usually favor close intimate relationships, instead of tons of causal friendships. 

If you have predominantly positive planets than of course you are most likely extroverted. People with mostly positive planets love being social and being around people. They gain stimulation from other people and need constant social stimulation to give them energy. They are very oriented towards the external world. Unlike people with lots of negative planets, they like having tons of friendships that are casual. 

If you are balanced in negative and positive planets than you are most likely ambiverted. People who have balanced negative and positive planets usually are introspective and oriented towards the external world. They just need a balance of both to be happy. Too much social activity or too much solitude might not be good for them. The key for them is balance. 

Some people think that the negative polarity is bad and the positive polarity is good. This is not true however. The names can be misleading, but neither one is good or bad. Whatever you have more of is perfect for you in this lifetime and there is no need to change yourself. I think becoming aware of polarities is an important part of astrology because in today's world people are sometimes not very understanding of introversion and extroversion. Extroversion is particularly glorified and introversion is seen as a bit weird. The truth is that both of these personality traits and ambiversion as well, are wonderful and everyone should become more accepting of the polarity balance that they were born with which influences their personality. Everyone should  live their lives in a way that caters to this personality influence, so that they can be more energized, happy and fulfilled. 

Modalities in the Natal Chart

Modalities, also known as Qualities in astrology, represent the way a planet uses energy and takes action. There are three modalities that are used in astrology; Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable. In a Natal Chart you can count the number of planets that are in the different modalities to see which type of energy is used the most. A lot of people have a dominant modality in their chart , although there are people who have a balanced amount of modalities which would mean the way that they use their energy is relatively balanced. 

Cardinal is the first modality. The Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. A person who has predominantly Cardinal planets in their natal chart usually have a good deal of energy and are great at starting things. In the northern hemisphere all the Cardinal signs start at the beginning of each season. This is why Cardinal people love new beginnings. Cardinal people have lots of drive and love taking action on ideas. Cardinal people are initiators and can be pretty assertive at times. They are trailblazer and pioneer type personalities. The problem with Cardinal people though is that they may have trouble seeing things through to completion. 

Fixed is the second modality. The Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. A person who has predominantly Fixed planets in their natal chart are usually really good at sustaining things and seeing projects through till the end. They usually dislike change and love stability. They can be very resistant to things they don't want to do and they are known for being quite stubborn.They have a good deal of stamina to get through whatever they have started. Basically Fixed people are great at 'sticking ' with anything that they are currently involved in and are very reliable. 

Mutable is the third and last modality. The Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. A person who has predominantly Mutable planets in their natal chart usually are very good at going with the flow. They are flexible and adaptable to whatever life throws at them and they actually like change. They can be great multi-taskers and can get bored if they don't have enough going on in their lives. The problem with Mutable people is that they can be a bit scattered sometimes and may have trouble committing to things. 

~There you have it. Those are the modalities in astrology which show what type of energy a planet uses and the type of energy that a person predominantly uses. If you are curious about which modality is dominant in your natal chart count the number of planets that are in each modality. Like I said before, you  may find that you are completely balanced or are balanced between two modalities. If you are unsure about how to look at your natal chart, getting your chart done is always recommended~

Super Moon in Aquarius: Time to Let Go of Those Fears

On August 10th 2014 at 11:09 AM (PDT)  there will be a Full Moon in Aquarius. This will be a Super Moon and the closest one of the year. Super Moons affect everyone more intensely than a typical Full Moon, and this particular one has a lot going on with it aspect wise, so expect this Full Moon to have some strong effects.

Now let's talk about what's going on. To begin with the Sun is in Leo and the Full Moon is in Aquarius, also Mercury is conjunct the Sun. Basically the desire to do what you want to do and creatively express yourself (Sun and Mercury in Leo) is at odds with your desire to do what other people want to do and what would make them happy (Moon in Aquarius). There may be a juggling act going on between the desires of the Sun and the Moon. To top it off Saturn in Scorpio is square to  the Sun , Mercury and the Moon. Saturn in Scorpio may bring up some fear or paranoia about Aquarian and Leo issues. There could be fears about being approved, being able to express yourself, belonging, or  pleasing others around you. Saturn could also make some people desire to try to control the situations that could be making them paranoid. 

Saturn may sound like it's causing trouble, but in reality Saturn can help you figure out what's been holding you back. It can help you discover any fears you have about self expression, approval, other people etc. so that you can let them go. Full Moons are all about letting go anyways, so it's important to let any issues go, so that you can experience a wonderful balance between yourself and your needs and other people and their needs. 

~Overall, this Full Moon will probably be intense, but it is helpful because it can help us realize and release our fears. I hope everyone has an empowering Full Moon and don't forget to let it all go!~

New Moon in Leo: In the Spotlight With Luck on Your Side

On Saturday July 27th 2014, there will be a New Moon in Leo. This should be a really fun and lucky New Moon as it is conjunct Jupiter! The New Moon should make us just want to let go, have fun and shine in our uniqueness! 

This New Moon should be great for being in the spotlight either literally or figuratively. This will be a great opportunity to get the recognition you deserve and desire. A confidence boost should hopefully be coming your way! So this weekend let go of any fears holding you back and let yourself be special, let yourself shine and stand out from the crowd. On that note, also remember to dish out those compliments towards others ( only if you mean them of course), make others feel good, cause what goes around comes around. 

New Moons are always about manifesting and beginning new things. This particular New Moon is a great time to begin any sort of creative project, plan for an extravagant party , participate in performing arts, or anything that will make you become more confident and that allows you to shine in all your brilliance. Leo rules the heart, so this is also a great time to decide to open your heart and let it be filled with joy. 

This New Moon conjunct Jupiter will be square to Mars which entered Scorpio the day before. Usually this might be kind of intense, and I guess for some it might be. I think though that this aspect will give every one extra energy to go after their dreams and to fiercely decide that they are going to let themselves be exceptional at whatever it is they love and that they are going to stand in their own power. Also besides Jupiter making the New Moon lucky, I think Mars will make the New Moon sexy as well if you know what I mean. 

~Overall this sounds like a really fun, empowering, and fortunate New Moon. Don't forget to start new and exciting ventures and to sparkle and shine in your own uniqueness! ~

Intensity, Passion and Sex : Mars Enters Scorpio

On Friday July 25th 2014 Mars will enter the sign of Scorpio after spending about 8 months in Libra. 8 months was a very long time for Mars to spend in one sign, as it usually only stays in a sign for about 45 days. Mars in Libra was all about trying to keep things harmonious, balanced and fair. It's transit was frustrating at times as Libra is not the greatest placement for Mars and it brought about some relationship issues. Mars' transit through Scorpio won't exactly be a breeze, but it should be pretty exciting. 

Mars in Scorpio is a very passionate and intense placement. This will be a good time to put energy into whatever you love that makes you excited. Mars in Scorpio can help ignite the fire of your passions and you will be able to throw yourself wholeheartedly into whatever it is you do, as long as you love it. Scorpio is all about transformation, so during this Mars transit you may want to put a lot of energy into transforming yourself or your life. 

Mars is the planet that has to do with anger. Scorpio is a very powerful and intense sign. This means that during this transit everyone's temper may be a bit high. Jealousy is something that could end up being a source of many outbursts during this time. It's important to try to stay as calm as possible if you get enraged, because Mars in Scorpio's anger could be quite destructive. 

On a better note, Mars in Scorpio is a very sexy placement. Mars rules the sex drive and Scorpio is the sign most associated with sex. Put those two together and you get raw sexual energy, an insatiable sex drive, and enough passion and desire for a lifetime. Scorpios type of sex isn't the type that goes for flings, hookups or one night stands though. It's actually quite serious. Scorpio craves the type of sex that connects two souls, the kind that is an act of love. So expect to crave sex, but the kind that is meaningful and deep. 

When Mars first moves into Scorpio it will square Jupiter and the Sun in Leo. This could be pretty lucky for most people. It could also make some people act really dramatic or selfish. Let's hope though, that overall it's lucky!

Remember during this transit if you have a lot of overwhelming and intense energy, to channel it into doing something you love, transforming something in your life, or making love to your partner (if you have one) instead of channeling it into an outburst of anger. If you remember that than this transit should be filled with passion and excitement.

Leo: The Lion

Today, (July 22nd 2014) the Sun has entered the brilliant sign of Leo.  Happy Birthday month to all you Leos out there! I'd like to talk about the sign of Leo and the personality of a  Leo Sun because of the Sun's descent into Leo. 

The Sun is at home in Leo because it is Leo's ruling planet. It gets to shine in all it's glory when it is in Leo and that is why people with their Sun in Leo can seem like a burst of sunshine to others. Leo is the 5th sign in the zodiac and represents the fifth stage of evolution through the signs. Cancer is the first sign where we discover emotions and also the first sign where we take others into account and want to emotionally connect to them. After we have discovered our connection to others through Cancer, we want to be approved by them in Leo. This is the reason why Leos can seem to always want constant acknowledgment. They just want to be accepted by others, to know that they are special. Leos want to be in the spotlight and to have an audience because of this need for approval. They crave attention. It's a good idea for Leo's though to not put too much energy on getting attention and to instead focus it on uplifting others to help them to shine as you wish to do. Leos have great potential to uplift others and by doing so they can get the approval they desire. Leos can be very generous towards others and many of them have big hearts. They also make loyal friends and lovers most of the time. 

Leos have quite a knack for self expression, a dramatic flare and are usually very creative. These traits can spark a Leo's interest in the arts, particularly performing arts which a lot of the time they can be quite good at. They can channel their desire to be the center of attention by literally being in the spotlight! In fact anyone who has personal planets in Leo probably has some great potential in the arts. Leadership is another area where Leos can be in the spotlight. They usually have a very regal, noble air about them and make excellent leaders. Leos can also be pretty great at sports as fire signs are known for their energy and vitality. Whatever a Leo chooses to do though, I can assure you that they will shine! The Sun dazzles and shines in the center of the solar system just as Leos radiantly shine and dazzle in the center of all our lives. They are part of the Sun with sunshine in their hair and the rays in their hearts. 

I'd like to mention that Jupiter is conjunct the Sun right now, so that's really lucky for us all, particularly for Leos.
