Mercury Retrograde in Gemini: Retreat, Reflect and Rejuvenate

Today, May 18th 2015 Mercury is turning retrograde in Gemini. This retrograde will last until June 11th. I'm sure the thought of a Mercury Retrograde sends some of you into panic mode, but it really isn't as bad as you may think.  Mercury Retrograde doesn't mean anything bad will happen, it just means that some things may be slow or frustrating.

Mercury Retrograde is probably particularly frustrating in contemporary times because we expect communication to be fast, we don't have a lot of patience, and we forget how to slow down and take it easy. If you remember the three R's of Mercury Retrograde: Retreat, Reflect and Rejuvenate, you shouldn't have too bad of a time. Mercury is in Gemini this retrograde . Mercury and Gemini both rule the mind. During a retrograde we are urged to turn our minds inwards to reflect on and review our lives. Starting new projects isn't a good idea, instead let yourself have some contemplation time. Let yourself rest during this period of time. Try to stay in and not go out when you have free time. Take some relaxing bubble baths, take some naps, watch some of your favorite movies or prepare some homemade meals.

If you slow down and have some patience hopefully you won't get too frustrated. Communication, technology and travel plans still could get a bit mixed up and confusing though. You just have to roll with the punches. Starting new things isn't a good idea because they may not turn out very well. This is also not a good time to begin new relationships. However, it is a good time to catch up with old friends you haven't talked to in a while.

Overall Mercury Retrograde is what you make of it. Yes this may be a annoying time, but give yourself some much needed rest and downtime and you can turn this time into something positive.

New Moon in Taurus: Stability, Pleasure and Manifestation

On May 17th 2015 at 9:13 PM (PST) there will be a New Moon in Taurus. This will be a rather calm New Moon as there is not a whole lot going on around it.

New Moons are times of new beginnings. They are like a ray of sunshine after Full Moons, which are usually intense. The last Full Moon we had was in Scorpio and it was particularly intense. It was all about releasing deep-seated issues and transforming. Now that that's over the New Moon in Taurus will help us regain some stability in our lives. We can plant the seeds of what we would like in our lives and watch them grow as this is a great time to manifest.

Taurus is ruled by Venus the planet of love and pleasure. This means that this New Moon you may feel the love that is all around you and you may want to partake in some material and physical pleasures. This is a good time to enjoy good food, spend time with a loved one,  go on long walks, take naps in the sun or tend to your garden if you have one. This New Moon is basically really pleasant and you can sit back and enjoy yourself. Mercury turns retrograde the day after the New Moon, so communication could get a bit weird. If you take it slow, which is easy to do when there is Taurus energy, you should be able to enjoy yourself and not be too affected by the slow communication.

Overall this is a lovely New Moon, so take advantage! Let yourself enjoy the pleasures that life has to offer, let yourself find some stability in your life, and plant the seeds of what you would like to manifest in your life during this New Moon.

Full Moon in Scorpio: Transformation is the Key

On May 3rd 2015 at 8:42  PM (PST) there will be a Full Moon in Scorpio. This will be a very intense Full Moon, but one that will hopefully help us change for the better.

Full Moon's are all about letting go. With the Moon in Scorpio, we won't only be letting go, we will have to transform as well. Scorpio energy urges us to transform from measly little caterpillars to beautiful butterflies. Scorpio doesn't let us stay stuck in our problems forever, it wants us to rise above them and become the best version of ourselves. How we can transform during this Full Moon is by letting go. The thing we will have to let go of will be our deep-seated fears and worries. On a day to day basis it's easy to shove our fears deep down and not deal with them, but Scorpio shines a light on the subconscious making our fears and worries surface. In the past few days if you have felt old fears surface, this means that you must them go during this Full Moon. Some particular fears that may surface may have to do with power, control, other people's money, emotions and sexuality. These are all Scorpio themes.

Pluto is also involved in this Full Moon as it will be trine the Sun. Pluto is the planet that rules Scorpio, so this will just further intensify the energy. Basically there will probably be a big urge to transform for many of you. Jupiter is also involved and will be directly square both the Sun and the Moon. Jupiter wants us to expand and grow. Sounds quite similar to the Scorpio and Pluto themes doesn't it?

The Sun will be in Taurus during the Full Moon and represents the final goal of the Full Moon: to become stable. We must transform and change to achieve stability, which sounds like a bit of a paradox. For us to lead stable, comfortable lives we can't hang on to the old fears. This is what the Scorpio and Taurus energy is trying to show us.

Overall this is going to be an intense Full Moon and may be quite emotional as well, since Scorpio is a water sign. The energy the past few days has been intense leading up to this Full Moon, so if you have experienced any sort of accident, mishap or emotional outburst, you can probably blame it on the Full Moon. This is an important opportunity for soul growth though, so accept this chance to change with arms wide open. Embody the phoenix or the butterfly, two creatures that represent the ultimate goal of Scorpio energy.
